DETLEF OYEN
Detlef is competing in sled dog races since 1981. He started on skis with one or two dogs in front of a pulk. Since 1991 the SHAKTOOLIK team starts in the unlimited class. From 1996 to 2004 the focus were distance races, mainly stage races.
Detlef was five times European Champion and two times World Champion between 1984 and 2012.
CHRISTINE OYEN
Christine started her career with four dogs in 1994. She stopped racing dogs 1998 after her victory in the European Championships 1997 (8 dog class) because of our children.
SHAKTOOLIK kennel exists since 1986. We live in Bavaria (Germany) between Munich and Passau on an old farmer´s site. The future of our kennel will be breeding for the unlimited class and competing in the unlimited class. The goal for the next years is a sled dog team running on a high level in sprint and mid distance races.
For 20 years, we are living on an old, but now completely renovated farm outside the village Massing in the south of Bavaria. This location is a little bit offside from daily work. Here we can have our dogs, some chicken, turkey and sheep.
