DETLEF OYEN
Detlef is competing in sled dog races since 1981. He started on skis with one or two dogs in front of a pulk (sled dog sports nordic style). Since 1991 the SHAKTOOLIK team starts in the unlimited class. From 1996 until 2004 the focus were distance races, mainly stage races.
Detlef was five times European Champion and two times World Champion between 1984 and 2021. Actually Detlef ist Vice World Champion (IFSS) in MD12 (mid distance with a pool of 12 dogs)
CHRISTINE OYEN
Christine started her career with four dogs in 1994. She stopped racing dogs in 1998 after winning the European Championships (WSA) in 8 dog class in order to care for our children.
„SHAKTOOLIK“ racing kennel exists since 1986. Since 1992 we reside in Lower Bavaria in a beautiful landscape situated between Munich and Passau. We (Detlef, Christine and our son Nils) live on an old farmer´s site which was completely renovated during the past 20 years. The kennel owns about 25 hounds including puppies and old dogs. This location is a little bit offside from daily work. Here we can keep our dogs, some chicken and some sheep.
The future of our kennel will be breeding and competing in the unlimited class, mainly in mid distance races. The goal for the next years is a sled dog team performing on a high level
